Meet Our Pastors

Christy Tsai
Mandarin Congregation Pastor
Christy Tsai was born in Taiwan and came to faith in 1989 as a first-generation Christian. Since then, she has served in various roles within the church, including as a devotional team member, small group leader, young adults fellowship leader, Sunday school teacher, and deacon. In 2001, she migrated to Sydney, Australia. In 2012, she and her husband, Pastor Trent Tsai, began theological training at the Chinese Theological College Australia. After graduating, they started serving together at CABC-T in 2016. Following Pastor Trent Tsai's retirement at the end of 2020, Christy stepped into the pastoral role in January 2021 and has been faithfully shepherding the congregation since. They have three daughters, all grown and now with families of their own. Outside of ministry, they enjoy morning swimming, cooking and exploring good food, travelling, and watching movies. They also value meaningful conversations with others about the Bible and growing together in the understanding of God's truth.

Nathan Kwok
English Congregation Pastor
Nathan grew up in the Hills area and has been part of CABC-T from a young age. After working as a chartered accountant for five years, he left that career to complete a Master of Divinity at Morling College. He then served at a small church in Five Dock for seven years before being called by God to return and serve as the English Pastor at CABC-T in July 2022. Nathan loves helping others find joy in Jesus and has a deep passion for music and worship. He believes that, in every stage of life, each person has a deep need for Jesus and a meaningful relationship with Him. At home, Nathan and his wife Jess have two young children, a lively three-year-old boy and a cheeky one-year-old girl. As a family, they enjoy the rhythms of life together, from playtime and walks around the neighbourhood to the everyday joys and chaos of raising young kids. Nathan and Jess would love to chat with you, whether you have questions about Jesus, faith, or simply want to connect. Feel free to reach out any time!

Kenny Tse
Cantonese Congregation Pastor
Kenny loves exploring vocation and calling with others and enjoys walking through the city with his wife, Beeatrice, reflecting on God’s guidance in everyday life. He enjoys running, reading history, and watching films, and believes that faith is not merely a set of ideas, but something to be lived out in daily life. Born in Hong Kong, Kenny became a Christian in 1995 and was called to ministry after a short-term mission trip to Japan in 1998. After graduating from university, he joined Power To Change (CRU) in Hong Kong, where he served university students and young professionals for many years, promoting creative evangelism and discipleship. In 2008, he and his wife entered the China Graduate School of Theology for theological training. After completing his Master of Divinity, he became firmly convinced of a ministry calling centred on missions. He has served in the Christian and Missionary Alliance, the Evangelical Free Church, and the Baptist Church in Hong Kong, continuing to be actively involved in pastoral care, evangelism, and mission mobilisation. He is also experienced in integrating field ministry experience to help churches grow and be renewed. In 2025, he and his wife moved to Australia to care for family members and enter a season of rest and equipping. Kenny began serving at the Chinese and Australian Baptist Church – Thornleigh in May 2026. He looks forward to meeting new friends, exploring faith together, and helping believers live out their faith and calling in everyday life.
Who Are We
Chinese and Australian Baptist Church - Thornleigh was founded in July 1989. Since 1984, Rev. Joseph Fung responded to God's guidance, and, together with Rev. Burman of Eastwood Baptist Church began to reach out to the Cantonese speaking Chinese migrant community, resulting in the establishment of CABC Thornleigh. All this time the Church has upheld its foundation – the Word of God. The church ministry has always centred on the Word of God – Sunday worship, all-age Sunday school, cell groups and fellowship groups all built upon this foundation; but from the beginning, never forgetting the Great Commission. Right from the beginning, CABC-Thornleigh already established a mission fund, supporting local and overseas missions. Here we see a beautiful picture, the Australian and Chinese pastors and brothers and sisters then, in responding to the gospel need of the community, joined in local mission, establishing the church, spreading the Word of God, and supporting overseas missions. Just as the Lord Jesus, before his ascension, instructed the apostles and said, "…You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8). We thank God for His provision throughout the years, for establishing CABC-Thornleigh this big spiritual family to proclaim Christ and witness the power of His Gospel.
